Pre-order Bundles

Ok, everyone’s doing sweet pre-order bundles these days.  We wanna get in on the action and get you guys some awesome, limited edition stuff.  We haven’t really done a ton of cool stuff in the past, because doing rad items for pre-order bundles requires quite a bit of lead time.

So this time, I’m getting on the ball early.  I’m starting to collect ideas now.  The pre-order bundles are for you, so I want you to tell me what you want and we’ll try to make it happen.  Please suggest anything that would tickle your fancy, so to speak, and make you relish the joys of being a BTA listener.  If it’s too expensive, we can’t do it, so don’t be listing Corvettes or human flesh or anything that we obviously can’t do.

Actually, do list that stuff.  It might be fun to hear how off-the-wall you guys can get.  But put some serious ones in there too.  I wanna make the pre-order bundles something that you want, so you gotta tell me what you want!

a limited 2D Clifton (paper or whatever) with real beardhair from all of you guys :D
a real clifton (3D), with real beardhair from all of you
a poster with the album artwork on it
a vinyl edition of the album with dl code from bandcamp :D
T-shirt with album artwork on it

so far, I’m thinking about more, but for the time being these where my initial thoughts^^

  • http://www.deathisgain.com Robert

I’m usually all for the standard items (CD & Shirt). Stickers & patches (Clifton!) are cool. Beyond that, maybe a making of DVD, Clifton bobblehead (FTW).

Obviously if there was something that tied into one of the songs, that would be extra special. Like a crystal that would’ve came with the Celestial Completion disc (tied into the video for Magnetic Sky).

  • derliebewolf

a cliffton belt buckl (full metal). I’d sell a leg and a arm for that :-D

    • althrioan

that is pretty rad. I’d buy this beautiful thing and become a total fanboy … dang, I am already a fan boy :D

    • derliebewolf

oh and It would be needed to be really heavy, like 1lb at least or so!

      • althrioan

because it’s real heavy metal?! :D

  • Jared Fourteen

BTA ginger ale. It’s different, it’s classy, and it’s collectable, right?

Seriously, maybe the new album on limited cassette tapes. Everyone’s going vinyl now. You guys have to get ahead of the curve.

Also, a t-shirt with a pocket. You know, like a pen pocket. I’m not talking about a trendy v-neck. It should be like one of those shirt that retired guys wear on Saturdays. That would be so awesome.

  • http://www.celestialcompletion.com countseth

Wow, these are a lot of good suggestions already. The belt buckles are probably my personal fav since I love belt buckles. If that’s possible, we’ll do that. Might be kinda expensive, I dunno.

The pocket tee is always possible. I told The Overseer to do a pocket tee as a merch item way back in 2008. They did it and said no one bought it, haha. We may do one eventually as a regular merch item.

As much as I think cassettes are ironic, cool, thrifty (usually 50 cents at thrift stores), I don’t think it’ll be very feasible for us and I prob won’t push that very hard.

Clifton bobble head would be cool, but I think bobble heads just get forgotten about after a couple days. I’ve had a couple and they’re like trophies, they’re good dust-collectors.

The poster with beard hair is obviously doable, but also obviously, there’d be a very limited quantity. How much $ (seriously) would you add to the cost of preordering a CD to get a poster with our hair on it? I honestly don’t think we could make more than, like, 4 or 5 of those, even with making the hair kinda sparse, haha.

Vinyl I’m always interested in. Trying right now to talk some people into doing Dichotomy on vinyl. The problem with vinyl printing is that the overhead is so expensive, you have to print like 500 copies. That’s a lot. Most printers only agree to do it if the band agrees to buy a good portion of that. And you can imagine how difficult moving 100-200 copies of a record can be. Most people don’t even have a record player and for the high price, it’s not worth it to most people. I’m not saying it’s impossible, but I am saying that although I would love to do vinyl for the pre-order, it’s more likely to happen later, after the album has sold well and a vinyl pressing company is confident they can move a couple hundred copies.

definetly more cool t shirts and longsleeve ,something like the tiger one love that design! car decals are also cool too advertise being a fan. maybe a baseball hat.

  • Pyro

Please no more Kickstarter.com B.S.-ery. (I want to help you but I hate that site)

I’ve always coveted the BTA Nintendo cartridge. If there are any of those still kicking around you could do a random giveaway for one lucky pre order customer?

‘Terminate’ LP Autographed in silver/gold sharpie by the original line up from that era? How about a physical copy of Necrotizing Fasciitis or the new EP? CD or 7″ picture disc.

Quality Art Prints for each track’s concept art from Celestial Completion?
Custom matchbox/book/zippo lighter (Physics of Fire era)
    Old Demos?
    Unreleased song?
    B-Sides?

    Glamour Shots
    Coloring Book
BTA Hymnal (for/from up coming Hymn record)
Music Box that plays one of your amazing instrumentals
Clifton Ch-Ch-Chia “Beard grows, just add water ™”
    Velcro Wallet
    Clifton “Wooly Willy”

Reunion – I miss Jason and Duck :(

    • Nik K.

Clifton Chia pet would be ridiculous. I’d be good with a wallet, NES-esque cartridge or shirt too.

If Mr. Hecox is listening, license plate covers/frames are cool too, if feasible.

    • dustin

I think the hymnal would be epic. That is a great idea. A hymnal with artwork, maybe play with the design of the sheet music. Incorporate the bars and notes as artwork, and yet allow the design to be something that someone could still visually follow while playing. There are a lot of directions you could go with this. It would be awesome as an actual hardback hymnal, but the printing cost might be obscene. Perhaps a small binder, or folder of some type? A simple slim leatherbound (faux leather?) notebook? Or a hard cardboard book, like a children’s book (think Dr. Seuss hardcovers)?

I really like the hymnal idea.

    • Bob

I second the nintendo cartridge, physical copies of the digital music, old demos, unreleased songs,
B-sides, celestial completion art, and the poster idea someone else had. I’d also like to see a poster for the Terminate Damnation art work.

Another thing I would like to see would be tabs and chords, or some other form of instruction on how to play the songs for those of us who never learned to read western sheet music. Piano and/or keys, bass, guitar, drums, heck throw in vocals.

Also I personally am against pre order bonus songs being exclusive to the pre order. It seems to screw over fans who happen to be without internet at the time, have no online purchasing ability, or those who discover the band at a later date. It may not be a big problem for a death metal band, but I’ve seen it screw over a lot of die hard fans of other bands.

      • althrioan

I think the b-side idea is against the whole BTA concept – at least it was until CC – they tried (and successeded imo) to write good and killer songs and b-sides mean that they aren’t that good to be on a release.

  • derliebewolf

As I see it, the belt buckle is quite at teh rop of the list , congratulations :)

I’d also back the Idea of a physical copy of Necrotizing Fasciitis! CD, Vinyl wil both good.

    • althrioan

Vote for physical NF and CP! On vinyl! :D

      • althrioan

btw I need that belt buckle until july – that I get married and I want to represent BTA :D

  • RDetwiler

    1).Hard-plastic Clifton mask

    2). Clifton notebook

    3).

    • RDetwiler

…Meant to say “Clifton/BTA blanket” for number 3.

      • http://www.celestialcompletion.com countseth

Ooh, I like all 3 of these ideas. All should be feasible too.

      • dustin

Good gravy, a Clifton blanket. I would totally buy that. Holy crap.

    • althrioan

Would buy the Clifton blanket too :D

  • Lazarus Dark

Acoustic versions (a code to download mp3’s or a seperate disc or just however is easiest/cheapest for you)
A cardboard foldout, as opposed to the throw-away plastic jewel case.
Or maybe a steelbook dvd-like case! Metal!! \m/
Perhaps 5.1 channel Flac versions? No one ever does this, but I totally would if I were in a band (well, if you can afford the mastering)
Vinyl car window sticker of Cliffton (if you include any letters, make sure it is reversed, so I can put it on the inside of the window.)

    • dustin

      Acoustic versions! YES!

      • thomas

        I second that!

  • althrioan

I think someone mentioned the digi-pack before but I can’t find the comment right now, so I just back that idea also.

    • althrioan

      or a slipcase

  • ThePhysicsofEthan

I think that it would be awesome to have a pre-order bundle consisting of:
    * A physical copy of the album (CD)
    * A poster of the band (since I have not found a pic of the new BTA lineup, and it’s driving me bonkers)
    * A wristband that says an uplifting and/or catchy lyric from one of the songs on the album
    * A t-shirt with words on the front from one of the songs off the album, and a live shot of the band on the back with the band logo (the live shot has to be a recent one with Chris in it!)

If this was the pre-order, I would pick it up immediately. Sleeping Giant did a similar one for just $32.00, and it sold really well.

    • althrioan

Imo the words on the front on any shirt is such a ridiculous idea. It just looks so boring and generic =/ The same thing counts for the live shot of the band on the back … meh

btw you couldn’t find a pic from the actual line up because they never released one yet. Seems like we have to be patient until the new album drops

  • undead toaster

    8-bit versions of songs
    instrument tabs

  • Jordan Dawson

I would love it if you guys could give out some of the old music, examples straight from wikipedia:

    As Nonexistent Failure

In Loving Memory of Everything… I Never Had (2002, demo)

    As The Remnant

    The Remnant (2003, Full-length, self-released)
Death, Destruction, and Mayhem (2004, demo)

The Remnant is a pretty sick album and if i could get a copy of it thatd be great!

Also, if you could release uncompressed 5.1 versions of a few songs mentioned above that would be amazing. My parents have an amazing audio set up and that would be absolutely awesome. It would be especially great if you guys did it with a few of the instrumentals so my parents could listen and enjoy too… :)

Either way i would love to get my hand on those old albums! Give em out!

  • jigsaw

all this talk of unreleased songs, demos, and b-sides including nonexistent failure and the remnant stuff has me thinking one thing…

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

maybe unreleased remixes or remixes of older songs too? it’s wishful thinking, i know, but it would be amazing :D

  • Sir Walter

I second the guitar tabs idea. Or even better, a Vocals/guitar/piano songbook! That would be splendiferously groovalicious.

  • vladimir_josef

i really like the bumper sticker idea. id especially like some kind of poster, with like clifton or album artwork of any of yall’s stuff on it. some kind of limited tshirt like you did with celestial would be cool too.
    others:
    1. keychains
    2. notebooks
    3. bibles?
    4. beanies/boggans/hats

  • J

    Posters and alternate album art.
    Stickers and bumper stickers.
    Beard hair.
    Extra songs/remixes?
    Shirts.

  • J

And also guitar AND BASS tabs.

  • Zaryan

How about a drawstring bag with Clifton and your logo..but a durable bag that won’t rip during the concert!

  • Jeffrey Bullens

I am so excited about the new album. I believe that a great bundle would be the following:
    1. A signed copy of the new cd along with an unsigned copy.
    2. A demo cd with ACCUSTIC tracks.
    3. Backstage pass for any one show
    4. T-shirt with totally awesome cool band graphics
    5. Poster
    6. guitar pick
    7. Volkswagon Jetta lol
